jack goes to preschool

he may have been just a little excited to go to school

dear jackers,

today you started preschool. i never thought this day would actually come. i remember bringing you home from the hospital. the thought of you going to school seemed like decades away. you have grown up so much. i am so proud of you, jack. you are such a special little boy. you're my best buddy. i'm the luckiest mommy in the world because i have you for my little boy.

on our way to school you were just grinning from ear to ear. you kept saying, "i'm so excited to go to my school!" i was excited for you too! but, i had just a tiny ache in my heart. on the short walk from the car to the school the last 4 years flashed before my eyes. i saw sleepless nights filled with pacing the floors with a crying baby. i saw a lot of tears and a lot of smiles. i saw your first steps. i heard your first word. i saw your first tooth. i saw your first hair cut. i saw you attached to my hip at all times. i saw that where ever i was you were there too. you have been my shadow. you and i have been through so much together. just you and me. though hard and frustrating at times i have loved every minute of it. its been just the two of us for so long. partners in crime. but, i realized as i was walking you into school that your life is now changing. and mine too. you are starting a new journey. i now have to let go of your hand and let you experience life. meet new people. try new things. i will always be right there cheering you on. i'm your number one fan. it's time to let your light shine, buddy. i hope that you will always be a good example to all your friends. always be kind and loving.

i love you, jack. i will always be here to help you out along the way. you make me so proud. i know that you can do anything.

love,
mommy

and remember...

i'll love you forever
i'll like you for always
as long as i'm living
my baby you'll be

mommy loves you, jack!

gag

not sure if i can type this without getting sick. but, i have to do it because one day when jack is older and reads this he is going to laugh.

i was in the kitchen making lunch when jack walked in.

jack: mom, i got a toe nail in my tooth. i can't get it out.
me: (gagging) what?!
jack: i chewed off my toe nail and now it's stuck.
me: (gagging) open up let me see.
jack: ahhhh
me: got it! jack that's disgusting. do not bite your toe nails.
jack: thanks mommy!!

seriously, i really do groom the child.

he just cracks me up!

jack got a little water on him so he thought he needed to strip down to his skivvies.
little boys are just so random. i love it!
notice the mosquito repellent fan hanging from his undie bums.

australia

trip to australia=a freaking long flight
4 flights later we made it to cairns. at some point on the 13 hour flight nate leaned over and said the most romantic thing to me. he said, "next time we go on a trip like this i'm spending extra to sit in first class."

we got up early one morning and went out on the beach. the next thing i know farmer was making a mad dash for the ocean.

this picture just cracks me up. farmer turned model. watch out.

i know i know you want more pictures.

but, people, we were on our honeymoon and this is a family blog. i think you're pickin up what i'm puttin down....right? right?

a good day

my sweet little jack. i love him to pieces. he is so special to me.
my biggest concern when it came to dating was i wouldn't find anyone who loved jack as much as i do...or even close to what i do. i was worried that i wouldn't find someone who would love jack like their own. but nate.....he does. he loves jack and jackers loves him.
on this very good day the three of us were hanging out inside being silly. jack was telling us that he wanted to be called jack sanford fleming. it was cute. he said nate was his daddy now cause we got married. then the two of them started a club and of course no girls are allowed. jack thought that was hilarious.
jack went back to play in his room and when i went to check on him he was kinda hiding in his closet. i asked what he was doing....he said he was getting dressed like daddy. so he had to put on his jeans and a black shirt.
nate had to go change the water in the field and of course jack wanted to go. he insisted on putting on his work hate just like his dad.
for so long all i have wanted was for me and jack to be happy. the happiest we could possibly be. with nate that's possible. he makes everything possible. nate was the piece that had been missing for so long. we're finally complete and it feels oh so good.

jack picked these for me and put them in his gatorade bottle. he said, "these mean thanks for being my mom." yeah, do you understand why he's so spoiled??

jesus did it

on our way home today jack started screaming. he's a little dramatic.
me: what?! are you okay?!
jack: no, i'm so mad!!
me: why? what happened?
jack: jesus gave me the badest feet in the whole universe!
me: uh, okay. why are they bad feet?
jack: cause i got water on them and they won't dry.
me: seriously?

yeah, i'm just glad it's not me he's mad at.

a few days ago

jack was playing on his scooter. he rides over to me, looks at me and in all seriousness says, "mom, watch my ollie." i couldn't stop laughing.

two things..

first-jack is driving me n.u.t.s today. seriously, i have to ask him multiple times to do one simple thing. just now, i asked jack to go wash his hands. he doodles for a few minutes. i repeat, "jack, please go wash your hands. he looks at me and just smiles and keeps messing around. i repeat again (with a little more force) "jack, for the love of all things holy, please go wash your hands. jack says, "alright alright, i promise i will go wash my hands!" as he's walking away i hear him say, "sheesh, tough crowd."
second-does anyone know what a titter is? cause if not, jack can tell you. he told me the other day that someone was a titter. i looked at him and asked him what the heck a titter was. he said a titter is someone who cries and whines, that's what papa called me one time. what i think he meant to say was tit....let me explain, if someone is whining or crying about something lame my dad would always say, "don't be a little tit." yeah, that's my dad. it's funny. so, if you're kid comes home telling you that jack called him a titter, i'm sorry.

8.10.2010

just now....

jack threw a ball up in the air and caught it
here's what happened next
jack: mommy!! you're the bestest mommy ever!
me: why is that?
jack: because you gave me the best hands when i was in your tummy. they help me catch the ball!
i'm glad jack is back. he cracks me up.

tonight

jack was getting ready to go to bed and he started with the whole " i want to sleep with you, mommy " speech. you see the problem is that he spent way to much time with nana. she let's him do pretty much whatever he wants...he even gets to sleep with her. when he comes back he thinks he needs someone to sleep with him.

anyway, this is the conversation last night.

jack: if i'm 3 can i sleep with you?
me: no
jack: how about if i'm 2?
me: no
jack: 1?
me: no
jack: well do babies get to sleep with their mom's?
me: they only sleep with their mom's when they are in their mommy's tummy's.

finally got him into bed. we read 2 books and sang about a million songs. i started to get up and he grabbed me and hung on for dear life and said, "mommy, you have to sleep with me. i'm a tiny baby and i'm in your tummy." he snugged right up to me.

you don't even have to ask...yes, i stayed in his room last night.

just cause...

i know you're all dying to see more pictures
i'll post some.

{summers family}
let's be honest, no way were we going to get this many kids to smile and look at the camera at the same time. so,we had to do something. i think it turned out cute.

i may have gotten carried away, i admit. in my defense he started it!

this is my favorite picture. it's just us. our little family...with jack pretending to be a "race car man" and driving circles around us.

these last two pictures are some that the photographer took. she's pretty much amazing.
